All consignments weighing more than 35 kg must be sent with a pallet. There is, however, no minimum weight limit for using our pallet service. Light consignments might need a pallet due to bulky dimensions or irregular shape, for example.

A quarter pallet can weigh a maximum of 250 kg.

A half pallet can weigh a maximum of 500 kg.

A full or special pallet can weigh a maximum of 1000* kg.

An Excess Weight Fee will be added if the pallet exceeds its weight limit.

Letters may weigh up to 2 kg. However, letters sent with the Värde (Value) service may weigh up to 20 kg.

Bulky letters

"Bulky" means a letter that is more difficult to handle and transport due to its dimensions.

A letter/tube with a thickness/diameter greater than 3 cm, or a short side greater than 25 cm, is considered bulky.

A surcharge needs to be paid for bulky letters by the sender. Either when handing in the letter at a service point, or by invoice afterwards.

Volumetric weight

Some parcels are light, but at the same time require large resources with regard to handling. For this reason, we convert the volume to a weight by equating each cubic meter to 280 kg.

This is called "volumetric weight" or "weight by volume".

If you are a business customer, or pay the freight via postnord.se, you pay for whichever is greater. The actual weight or the volumetric weight. This is standard practice in the industry.

A domestic parcel measuring 0.5 × 0.5 × 0.5 m has a volume of 0.125 m³. To calculate the volumetric weight, the volume is multiplied by 280 kg (0.125 × 280, which is equal to 35 kg).

If the actual weight of the parcel in this example were 18 kg, you would pay the shipping price for 35 kg (i.e., the largest of the actual weight or the volumetric weight).
