Pallets

Pallet goods that are shipped with us must fit on a EUR pallet (full pallets, half pallets, quarter pallets or special pallets).

The respective fees are defined in PostNord’s price list applicable at any given time.

Volumetric weight

Volumes are converted into weights in vispostnord.se/priser.sa. Some parcels are light but at the same time require large resources with regard to handling. For this reason, we convert the volume to a weight by equating each cubic meter to 280 kg.

If you are a service agreement customer, or pay the freight via Shipping Tool, you pay for whichever is greater – the actual weight or the volumetric weight. This is standard practice in the industry. Sometimes, volumetric weight is also called weight by volume.

In the following four cases, we charge based on whichever is largest – the actual weight or the volumetric weight:

  • Domestic parcel services, in the case of service agreement customers or if freight is paid via Shipping Tool
  • International Parcel, in the case of service agreement customers, or Parcel Post International if freight is paid via Shipping Tool
  • PostNord Pallet, only available for service agreement customers
  • International express services

An example of how volumetric weight is calculated:
A domestic parcel measuring 0.5 × 0.5 × 0.5 m has a volume of 0.125 m³. To calculate the volumetric weight, the volume is multiplied by 280 kg (0.125 × 280, which is equal to 35 kg). If the actual weight of the parcel in this example was 18 kg, you would pay the shipping price for 35 kg (i.e. the largest of the actual weight or the volumetric weight).
