Collecting your consignment

What do you need to think of when you collect a letter or parcel? Here you have the answers!

Notification

When your consignment is ready for collection, you receive a notification stating where this can be done. Depending on the type of notification you receive (SMS / letter / email), you state the four-digit code in the SMS or show your letter or email notification at the distribution point. More information about notifications.

Collecting parcels from parcel lockers

To have your parcel delivered to one of our parcel lockers, select “PAKETBOX” (parcel locker) as the delivery option during the checkout process when you shop at an online store. You will be notified when your parcel has been delivered to the parcel locker. You can then collect the parcel in a secure yet flexible manner using the PostNord App combined with your Mobile BankID to confirm your identity.

NB Only the person listed as the recipient of the parcel can use the digital key to collect the parcel after confirming his/her identity via Mobile BankID.

In order to be able to open the parcel locker, you must have registered your information in the PostNord App and activated Bluetooth on your cell phone. All you have to do then is stand close to the parcel locker and press the “Open” button in the PostNord App to open the right door. Find out more about receiving parcels in a parcel locker.

*The parcel lockers are being rolled out progressively, so it may take a little while before they are installed in certain places.

Verification of identity when collecting a consignment

If you collect a parcel, registered mail (Rek) or a cash on delivery consignment at a distribution point, you need to prove your identity. The name on your identification document must be the same as the name of the recipient and the name stated on the mail consignment. If the consignment is registered mail (Rek) or a Value (Värde) item, the notification also has to be signed by the recipient.

Minors with a valid identification document are entitled to sign for and collect registered mail, parcels and cash on delivery items.

If you collect an item for someone else, you need to show both your own and the recipient’s identification document. If the item has been sent by registered mail, you both need to sign the notification.

Only the recipient may collect the consignment in the case of personal delivery. Persons with a valid power of attorney or couriers cannot collect such items.

Using BankID to verify your identity when collecting mail
To be able to collect parcels using Mobile BankID (a digital signature solution), you need to have

  • PostNord’s app, with the parcel being added automatically – this is done using the profile settings in the app
  • BankID installed on the same device as the PostNord app.

Once BankID has been used, you just have to show the digital notification in the app to be able to collect the parcel. You can use the notification yourself or send it to someone else, who can then collect the parcel on your behalf without having to show their identification document. The person who receives the digital notification does not need to have PostNord’s app. The notification can be forwarded via the channel preferred by the recipient, such as SMS, email or Messenger.

Power of attorney

A power of attorney is used when the recipient has no valid identification or for some reason is unable to sign for mail items themselves.
