Mail deliveries to deceased persons

What happens with mail addressed to someone who has passed away? Read more for information and to find out how to forward mail to the estate.

Mail delivery continues for one year after a person's death.

If the deceased is no longer listed on the mailbox/property box, letters can be addressed as follows:

Estate of [name of the deceased person]
c/o [Name of the person who will receive the mail]
Address
Postcode and town

To register a new address for the estate, contact Skatteverket.

To forward mail to the estate, contact Svensk Adressändring (page in Swedish).
