SMS and email notifications

An SMS or email notification is the fastest way to inform recipients when a shipment (letter, parcel or pallet) is on the way, available for collection, or to inform senders that a shipment has been received by the recipient. Fast and convenient for you and your customer. Different options are available for our different services.

Notifications for letters

Notification by email or SMS is available:

  • when sending Registered mail and Cash-on-Delivery via posten.se
  • for service agreement customers that send pre-advices to Posten prior to submitting Varubrev, Registered and Cash-on-Delivery letters

How SMS notifications for mail work

  1. Pre-advice – When a mail item has been submitted to Posten, an SMS is sent to the recipient indicating that it is on the way.
  2. Notification – When the item has arrived at the collection point, the recipient is notified via SMS.
  3. Reminder 1 – If the mail item has not been collected after two days, the recipient receives a reminder via SMS.
  4. Reminder 2 – If the item has not been collected after seven days, a letter notification is sent to the recipient.

For private individuals

Now you can receive notifications right on your cell phone instead of traditional letter notifications – fast and easy.

As soon as a shipment arrives at the collection point, an SMS is sent to you indicating that it is available for pick-up. Instead of having to go home to check if a notification has arrived, you can collect the shipment on the way home from work. This means you effectively get your shipment one day earlier compared with ordinary letter notification.

SMS notification is free but requires the sender to offer the service, and that you the recipient has supplied a SMS number at the time of purchase. When you send a parcel, you can also opt for the recipient to receive an SMS once it is available for collection. You simply enter the recipient's SMS number when shipping the parcel – either at a partner outlet or via Skicka Direkt.

How SMS notifications work

SMS notifications can be used with Parcel Post, Cash-on-Delivery, Registered Mail and Registered CoD.

Day 1: You receive an SMS when the shipment has arrived at the collection point.
Day 3: You receive a reminder via SMS.
Day 9: You receive a reminder by letter.

The SMS includes information about the sender, where to collect the shipment and the four numbers you say when collecting the shipment. If it is a Cash-on-Delivery shipment, the amount to be paid is also specified. You must show an ID when collecting the shipment.
